Make A Fool Of Yourself

If you are constantly worried about making a fool of yourself, then of course you won’t make a fool of yourself. There is nothing you will do in fear of making a fool of yourself. But then again, no one talks about people who don’t make fools of themselves. Then again, lots of times when we think we may be making a fool of ourselves, it turns into some pretty great things we did.

If people are going to stare anyways, you mise well give them something worth staring at.

Today is a good day to go make a fool of yourself.

Be You Without Apology

There are many times I feel this nudge from the Universe or God to do something. It could be anything from go talk to that person, smile at her/him, compliment them, post that thought, write that down, raise your hand and speak, donate to that cause, etc. Yet, so many times I simply ignore that nudge. First, I don’t want to honor the nudge because I have fear surrounding the act, yet when I ignore the nudge, I feel more pain and discomfort.

What is the correct answer then?

Honor that nudge. Follow that calling. Do that thang.

If we have more pain and discomfort for NOT following it, then we can certainly go through a little pain and discomfort when following it initially.

It is hard to put yourself out there. It is hard to have people criticize you for being so brave but the harder thing is ignoring your true purpose. Ignoring that which makes you come alive and feel freedom. Complete freedom. I’m talking about freedom that allows us to be ourselves without judging our own selves. That is complete freedom.

I think back to when I was a child. I laughed more. I cried more. I got mad more. I was goofy more. I showed more of who I really was. I didn’t care what others thought of me and I didn’t have any fears surrounding me being just me.

As Peta Kelly says, “Freedom is an inside job.”

Go get back that freedom of truly loving yourself and being yourself. No judging yourself. Complete freedom to love and be…….your true self.

The really cool thing about getting this complete freedom thing down for yourself is you allow others to truly love and be themselves too…without judging them.

How frickin peaceful and calming is that?

Be stupid silly. Let those crazy ideas ooze out of you. Let them come spilling out. Then go share them with others without feeling like you are being judged. Love who and what you are. A higher power made YOU. Crazy silly sometimes stupid you. Honor that. Separate yourself from the masses. Be you without apology.

Feel Like Giving Up?

You know what happens to people who don’t give up?

They succeed.

It really is that simple.

Not easy.

But it really is that simple.

From Garbage To Masterpieces

Out of our garbage, God makes masterpieces.

Have you ever heard of a compost? You throw all of your leftover garbage in there. You take orange peels, old lettuce, animal feces, apple cores, etc., and you toss it into your compost. From this garbage, the best kind of fertilizer is made. From this garbage, the best kind of growth happens.

God can take all of the grossest, dirtiest, hardest parts of our lives and turn them into something beautiful. If we let him.

Sometimes we are suffering and we don’t see an end in sight. We don’t see how any good can come from this time in our lives. It is hard to see any good looking forward. But, we will see it when we are past the suffering looking backward.

Suffering produces many things…not all bad. After suffering, we are left with the beautiful pieces that stood the test of time.

We are the beautiful pieces.

Try Harder!

When you just can’t try anymore, try harder.

I remember one time I was studying for a Biology test back in my college days the night before the test. I procrastinated till the last night to study. I stayed up studying till midnight and then set my alarm to wake up at 5am so I could get to the library early to study for my test before 8am. It was my last class for the semester. I had a C in the class and I wanted to raise that up to a B for my final grade. I knew I could if I aced this last final. I got up at 5am, threw on clothes, and made it to the library around 5:40am. I got right to studying. Around 7am, I was tired. I didn’t want to study anymore. In fact, I had the attitude of I no longer even cared anymore. I was done. But then, a voice in the back of my head said, “When you just can’t try anymore, try harder.” It was lyrics from a song I was familiar with. I kept repeating it in my head over and over. Soon, I felt guilty that I wasn’t going to study anymore and I decided to keep going till 7:50am. The home stretch was in sight and I knew I wouldn’t regret this.

I aced the final and got my B baby!

At times we all want to give up. We are tired. We are worn. We just don’t want to keep going anymore. The easiest thing to do at this moment is to stop. This is also the least rewarding option. The hardest thing to do at this moment is to keep going. But this is also the most rewarding.

Keep going. Try harder. Remember, your trying can always be harder.

Handed A Dream

The other day I walked right into a dream of mine. Literally. Actually, it was more like I was sitting down at a table with 5 other people and was given the dream. I didn’t even realize what happened until I was driving home and it hit me. I just reached one of my dreams!

There are times in life when we feel like nothing is happening. We are doing all this work, hard work, putting in the time, doing the research, spending time in the lab, sweating, grinding away; yet, nothing is happening. I know this feeling. We have all been there. The thing I have learned is to keep going. Don’t give up. Yes, it feels like it is not working. We want to SCREAM! We want to SHOUT! We question the universe or God, “What is going on? Help me!”

Persistence pays off.

If you research successful people (people who have achieved their dreams), they go through hard times, again and again, and they just keep going. They keep going until they reach their goal.

This dream may sound silly to others, but one of my dreams since I worked at a Boys and Girls Club has been to be on the board. I don’t know how you get on a board. In my mind, I kind of thought you had to make a lot of money. I’ve just always wanted to be on one that I am passionate about. Well, I didn’t get on The Boys and Girls Club board (yet), I did get on a different board that I am passionate about. I have been putting in the effort, going to the meetings, helping out when I can, and then….the dream was handed to me.

Please please PLEASE, don’t give up when the going gets tough. Trudge your way through it. You may be a little slower going. It’s okay. We all have our slow days. Just keep going.

Persistence pays off.

Story

What kind of story are you writing? If you were a book, would people want to read your story? Would you be able to draw your readers in and keep them interested in your story?

Have you ever heard someone tell a story about their life where everything that happened to them was completely perfect? I haven’t. And if I ever do, I would be completely bored. Who gets inspired by perfect stories? All the stories we get inspired by are the ones where the characters have had to overcome great obstacles. Obstacles where you may think, as a reader, there is no way the character will overcome this struggle. But then, they do!! And what are we most inspired by?? The story of how they overcame that struggle!

You may be in a funk. You may be in a drought. You may be in the midst of a struggle. You may be thinking there is no way you will overcome this obstacle. My advice; go read a story of triumph! When we read about people going through the same kind of things we are going through, we get inspired and encouraged by their story. And when we read about someone who has or went through something worse, we get even more inspired and encouraged. And better yet, we lose the victim mentality.

Need some advice on great stories to read about triumph? Just use google. There are so many out there. Read their story and then go get yourself out of that funk. Pick yourself up and write a story that will be worth reading.

You never know…..maybe someday someone will read your story.
